A WEEK or so ago, I lost a bunch of keys.

It took me some time to realise that they were not just mislaid but really gone.

Without much hope, after exhausting all other possibilities, I eventually went to Bolton Police Station.

I was not only delighted to find them there, but heartened that someone had been kind enough to take the trouble to hand them in.

Through the letter page, I would like to convey my gratitude to that person.
