THE wheel has almost literally fallen off plans to stage a new BBC version of Ready, Steady Cook at the Victorian Street Fair on Bank Holiday Monday.

A trailer expected to host the event, set to have been filmed by the BBC against the colourful backdrop of the fair, has been judged unroadworthy.

Two up and coming chefs were going to be filmed in a cook-off. Their dishes were then going to be sampled by members of the public who would decide the winner.

The programme was to be filmed by the BBC for one of its new digital channels.

However, shortly after picking up the trailer from the garage, it is believed to have toppled over onto its side, making it a write-off.
