I WENT to Bolton to pay my dues.
First I parked my car, paid for a ticket of one hour, then went into the bank.
From the bank I went to the Town Hall to pay my dues.
After waiting in a queue and paying my dues, I went to the exit only to find it was raining very hard, so I stood in the doorway until it had eased. Then I went back to my car only to find a Traffic Warden fixing a ticket to my window.
I was just six minutes over. Now the crunch -- for being six minutes late, they say pay £20. This is one fifth of my pension, also the equivalent to 20 hours of parking.
Where is the justice in this town. I could understand being charged a pro-rata of £20 per minute, even then it would be £3.33 for the six minutes. That's three hours parking.
Wigan charge 90p for three hours; Chorley 40p for two hours; Bury 50p an hour; Swinton no charge; Farnworth free -- Bolton £1 per hour.
No wonder people are going out of town to the retail parks.
Bolton -- you don't deserve to prosper with this greedy attitude. Parking for OAPs should be free, same as badge holders.
