BOLTON'S Philip Cheadle is one of only 34 would-be actors out of more than 1,200 hopefuls, awarded a place at one of the most famous drama schools in the world.
Philip, 21, from Turton is set to train on a three year acting degree course at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), but first he needs help with the cost of covering his term time living costs in London.
He and his family have started a fundraising campaign to help him achieve his ambition.
Nicholas Barter, principal of the Academy, said: "Philip is a very talented young man and has won his place here following a very competitive three stage audition process.
"More than 1,200 students have been auditioned this year and only 34 places are offered for the acting course. Although Philip will have his fees covered for this course, he will have to raise the £1,075 mandatory student fee contribution. Philip will be eligible to apply for a student loan. However, as London is generally recognised as one of the most expensive cities in the world, even the maximum student loan available is insufficient to cover the estimated £5,100 required for the 34 weeks during term time.
"I would urge anyone with sufficient resources, who is able to offer financial assistance to this talented young man, to do so in the knowledge that they are investing in the theatre of the future."
