SAM Allardyce moved quickly to appease the members of his Premiership squad who have missed out on Wanderers' early-season glory.

Against all odds and expectations, the Reebok boss has seen the same starting 11 make a storming start with a maximum nine points from their first three games.

But he has stressed that he will need to use all his playing resources over the coming weeks and months.

"The players have responded magnificently and what we've done so far is a credit to them all - the 11 who have started the games and the substitutes who have come on.

"But there's also other players that are really pleased we have won but are disappointed they weren't a bigger part of that."

The only changes the manager has elected to make up to know have been on the subs' bench where fit again trio Gareth Farrelly, Djibril Diawara and Akinori Nishizawa came in for Monday's game against Liverpool at the expense of Nicky Southall, Henrik Pedersen and Ian Marshall.

"I had to make changes on the substitutes' bench I felt were necessary," the manager explained after Farrelly and Diawara played significant roles in the latter stages of the victory over Gerard Houllier's Reds.

"But it's about the squad and as the games go on we'll get other players coming in to do a job for us. The players I've used in the first three games - the subs who have have come as well as the starting 11- have been outstanding."

Many of Allardyce's senior squad are expected to figure in tonight's FA Premier Reserve League game against Manchester City at the Reebok (ko 7pm).

Wanderers' clash with Walsall in the second round of the Worthington Cup will be played at the Reebok on Tuesday, September 11 (ko 8pm).
