A "FLYING saucer" spotted travelling from Daisy Hill to Daubhill last week has been dismissed as a natural phenomenon.
Bolton UFO expert Phil Caterall said the shiny object spotted by drinkers at the Daisy Hill Hotel was actually a bright star.
But other "experts" are still analysing a recording of the sighting taken by pub landlord Lee Nuttall on his camcorder.
He said: "How can he or I know what that object is?
"It certainly did not look like a star to me.
"It was moving around quickly and I haven't seen stars do that before.
"I have given copies of the tape to loads of people and am waiting to see what they say.
"One UFO expert is having the tape computer analysed to see what it is. I don't know what it was -- but I do know it wasn't a star." But Mr Caterall, who heads Bolton UFO Society, said after studying the tape he was convinced the object is actually the star, Sirius.
Also known as the Dog Star, it is the brightest in the night's sky and, Mr Caterall said, is often seen giving off a green light.
He added: "I have been studying UFOs for more than 20 years and I have come across this before.
"I am absolutely convinced that this was not a UFO.
"I have seen them before and I think I know what I'm talking about."
The Ministry of Defence has said it is not investigating last Wednesday's sighting.
