PROMOTED Bolton County's first ever home game in the Premier Division ended in disappointment when Rochdale St Clements equalised five minutes from time for a 1-1 draw.
The 2nds lost 5-1 away at Old Blackburnians. Three goals conceded in just seven minutes saw depleted Bury GSOB slump to a 4-0 home defeat by Prairie United.
Manager Howard Croft surmised: "We were responsible for our own downfall. We lost possession high up the field on all three occasions and got punished."
Bury's star performer was centre back Jimmy Walmsley. The 2nds lost 4-1 at Lymm. The Bury Amateurs camp laid claim to "a magnificent fightback" whilst Bolton Ambassadors' player/manager Simon Murphy felt his side "snatched a draw from the jaws of victory" following a 3-3 Division Two stalemate.
The Bolton side boss explained: "At 3-1 up with 12 minutes remaining we were looking very comfortable and should have gone on to win the game. All credit to Bury for keeping at it but in all honesty some poor defending and a small amount of panic let them snatch a point."
Ambassadors goals came from Damian Smith, a 30 yard screamer from Adi Wolstenholme and veteran Dave Oakley. The Bury Amateur scorers were Guy Doyle with two and Mark Haslam one. The man of the match vote for Ambassadors went to 6ft 5 inch veteran striker Dave Oakley and for Bury right winger Paul Bill.
