Ramsbottom United 1 Woodley Sports 1
HONOURS even for the Rams and Woodley in this entertaining NWCL Division One encounter, played in front of a 200 plus crowd at the Riverside ground.
Both goals came in the first half, with Russell Brierley putting United in front from the penalty spot on 33 minutes following a handball, and the visitors levelling just four minutes later with a fierce drive at the far post from last season's leading scorer Mike Norton.
The entertainment level never reached its anticipated high in the second half, largely due to the stop-start action inflicted by an over-zealous referee. Full back Phil Porter won the Rams Man of the Match vote.
