Abbey Hey 2 Atherton LR 6
LR romped to a first win of the season last night despite being without the suspended Wayne Briddon and Luke Hardman.
After being denied by two excellent saves by the home keeper, the 20th minute saw Rovers break through when Paul Dean sent a cross into the area for Barry Massay to head home.
Abbey had a player sent off, but within a minute were level when a free kick was pumped into the Atherton box and headed in.
In the 42nd minute Massay restored LR's lead with a power drive and completed his hat-trick on the stroke of half time by heading in a Mark Jones cross.
Two minutes after the break Massay got his fourth before the home side was reduced to nine men with a second red card. Paul Dean made it a great night for the Atherton side scoring the fifth and sixth goals.
