CELEBRATING film buffs are ready to roll 'em again throughout Chorley.

For Chorley Film Society is about to launch its new season with the help of a grant from The National Lottery Awards For All programme.

And not only are they promising more films than ever before, but they're taking them out around the borough too.

The season starts with this summer's blockbuster Pearl Harbor on the big screen at Chorley Little Theatre on Sunday, September 2, at 7pm.

The society says, as one of the most expensive films ever made, this is a spectacular start to the new season which includes Bridget Jones's Diary and Shrek.

The Lottery and Chorley Borough Council's Sports, Arts and Community Development Fund have granted the society more than £6,500 allowing them to treble the number of films shown this year compared to last.

The society will also be moving out of the Little Theatre and touring the borough.

Ian Lynch, chairman, said: "We intend to use this money to develop our links in the rural areas of the town.

"We have operated new portable projection equipment and a bigger screen to enable to do this and have a budget to provide 18 films around the area. "What we need now are venues. If there are people keen for us to show a film for their local community and they have a suitable venue, such as a church hall, scout hut or similar, get in touch with us.

"We will come down and have a look at the venue and discuss what film you might like to see.

"We can't promise to get the latest Hollywood blockbusters, but we can get almost anything ranging from quite recent stuff to early classics. "

As part of the evening, the society will also train interested people how to use presentation equipment and aspects of presenting films to enable them to set up their own local film groups.

People can get in touch with the society on 01257 276663 or visiting www.chorleyfilm.co.uk.
