AS one of the thousands of visitors to the recent Bolton Show, I was very surprised to read Mr G Murphy's criticisms in Your Views.
I attended the show on both days and saw lots of happy faces all around me. I saw families with young children, elderly people, groups of teenagers and older children and adults.
There was plenty to see and do, ranging from the face-painting for the children to the various displays and musical events which took place on several different stages around the park. There was even a stand where you could write down any criticisms of Bolton's parks (along with suggestions for improvements)! I wonder if Mr Murphy availed himself of this opportunity?
I was particularly impressed with the silk painting activity which took place in the Community Marquee. This was open to people of all ages and proved very popular. Also in the same marquee was Zac's non alcoholic cocktail bar -- more suitable than a beer tent for a family occasion. And the Community stage showed a wide variety of local talent which continued to draw the crowds despite the heavy downpours.
On the Sunday I entered the park from the opposite end, having caught the free bus laid on by the Big W store (this meant I didn't even have to pay for transport to Bolton Show). I found there were several more attractions at this end of the park, which I had missed on the Saturday. In fact there was so much to see and do, that I would like to congratulate Bolton Council for organising all this in a free event.
