EARLIER this year, BEN columnist Les Gent referred to a revival night staged in connection with the pop magazine Bolton Beat Scene, which burned briefly but brightly during the Swinging Sixties.
The event, held at Bradshaw Cricket Club, was a huge success with a packed house of 'golden oldies' eager to swap memories of those marvellous times when the North-west was at the epicentre of the beat boom.
In the ensuing months, a number of meetings have been held between the principals responsible for organising the revival night and the idea of relaunching the Bolton Beat Scene.
This time, if the work behind the scenes comes to fruition, the magazine will be taking an affectionate look back to the 1960s when local venues, particularly the Beachcomber in Bank Street, put on shows featuring some of the top British pop bands.
