A DRIVER involved in a road accident was nearly twice the drink-drive limit, a court was told.
Bury magistrates heard police were called to a road accident at the junction of Sheepfoot Lane and Park Road, Prestwich.
Gary Howe, aged 27, driving a Ford Transit van, claimed the accident had not been his fault and the other motorist had pulled across him.
But the officer could smell drink on Howe's breath and a roadside test was carried out which proved positive.
Later, he was found to be nearly twice the legal limit with a reading of 67 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
Howe, from Printon Avenue, Blackley, pleaded guilty to drink driving.
He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and fined £250.
