THE start of the new season produced a goal feast.

The League welcomed four new teams to the league, two of which competed against each other at the weekend - when North West BMW beat Squirrel in a nine goal thriller.

They ran out 8-1 winners thanks to an awesome four goal haul by McDonald with further contributions coming from Shorthouse, S Davies, Mulligan and Boal, Squirrels consolation goal came from Darren Lowe.

Another of the new teams, Howcroft, also came up trumps gaining their first three points of the season going goal crazy at home against Long Pull winning this one by 7-2 Hyland scoring a brace here with Ashworth, Garsden, Kirkman, Leneghan and Henderson all contributing to a great team effort.

In the Premier saw newly promoted first division champions Smithills entertain Ladybridge. Smithills took an early lead through Stefan Dean but Ladybridge soon rallied back and grabbed a penalty that was coolly converted by Phil Hinks. Alex Clarkson provided Smithills with a last minute winner and gave his team a great start to the new campaign.

Last season's runners up in the premier Carters Arms got off to a flying start with a greate win at home against fellow new boys Oasthouse Utd. Hutchinson and Mccloughlin grabbed braces with Austin adding the fifth.

Champions A&A Pineapple chalked up their first three points by gaining victory over Breightmet 2-1. , L Harrison and S Perkin scoring with D Taff netting for Breightmet.

In the derby game Bridge turned over Horwich Victoria by 4-2 in an end to end game full of action.
