Atherton LR 2 Radcliffe Boro 5
JUST as in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Stainton Park NWCL Division One LR had a few FA Cup surprises up the sleeve for Unibond League Boro.
Rovers shocked their higher league opponents when they took the lead in the Preliminary Round replay after only three minutes through Mark Jones.
The Radcliffe Boro midfield department which had been inexplicably out of sorts on Saturday was to prove the difference between the sides in the replay although the task was made slightly easier when LR's combative Steve Stange was forced out of the action through injury in the 15th minute.
Eamon Elliott levelled on eight minutes and put Boro in front on 22. Ten minutes into the second half Lee Kissock put in the rebound after the LR keeper had saved his initial shot for 3-1. Still Rovers refused to be rolled over and substitute Paul Dean reduced the deficit on the hour mark.
Boro upped the pace and sealed a trip to Farsley Celtic in the next round a week on Saturday with goals from Jody Banim on 80 and David Bean on 87 minutes. Radcliffe's Scott Wilson was named man of the match.
