A WOMAN who stopped at a petrol station to buy a phone card told police she had been indecently assaulted by a man serving behind the counter, a court was told.
But Arif Adam claimed that he had spotted the woman stealing from a display and that she had agreed to be searched.
He said he found an aerosol can tucked into the waistband of her trousers but the woman claimed he had tried to touch her breasts.
Yesterday Adam, aged 24, of Chaucer Street, Halliwell, appeared at Bolton Crown Court. He denied indecent assault.
Policewoman Jane Whittle said that after interviewing the woman she went to a petrol station in Thynne Street in Bolton and arrested Adam.
