THE 140th World Black Pudding Throwing competition will be held at the Corner Pin pub in Bolton Road North, Stubbins, Ramsbottom on Sunday from 12.30pm.
And more than 200 entrants are expected to take part in this year's traditional yet wacky contest.
Competitors fling black puddings at the side of the pub wall to knock as many Yorkshire puddings as possible off plates, 20 feet high up the wall.
The current world record stands at 14 Yorkshire puddings in one throw.
This year's competition is sponsored by cereal company Kelloggs.
Black Pudding throwing dates back to the War of the Roses in 1455. Stories say Lancaster and York had run so low on ammunition they were reduced to throwing food at each other.
Revived in 1862 at the pub, the tradition has continued ever since.
Spectators are welcome. For details contact the pub on 01706 823694.
