CHURCH-goers fear overgrown trees blocking a busy Bolton pavement could put paid to plans to stage a flower festival.
Bolton Council has come under fire by members of the church for the overgrown state of trees on Manchester Road, Bolton.
Residents say the trees are now so overgrown that they pose a danger to pedestrians.
But their biggest fear is that the 150th anniversary celebrations of St Michael's Church will be affected .
A flower festival will be held at the Manchester Road Church on September 14, 15 and 16.
Block
The event starts at 2pm until 6pm on Friday, and runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10.30am until 3.30pm on Sunday.
Yet, organisers fear the trees will block the view of the church stopping passers-by from visiting the festival.
Bolton Council have admitted they are aware of the problem.
A spokesman for the council said: "We have served an enforcement notice to have the trees cut back on who we believe to be the owners of the trees but this has been disputed.
"While this is being sorted out the council will cut back the trees and this should be completed by next week."
