FOOTPATHS in Bolton have been reopened after Foot and Mouth restrictions were lifted throughout the borough.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has ruled that Bolton is an "At Risk" area rather than a "High Risk" one.
And by relaxing the status of the area, Bolton Council has been allowed to reopen paths.
Farms in Bury, Wigan and Blackburn with Darwen have also been told they can lift restrictions.
DEFRA Minister Lord Whitty said: "It means farmers will have more options to move livestock under the autumn movement restrictions.
"I am glad our campaign against FMD is continuing to bring relief to Britain's farming industry."
Residents are still advised not to approach or touch livestock, keep dogs on leads and take home any litter or waste.
Walkers are asked to stay on paths, wear clean footwear and clothing and leave gates as they find them.
