BOLTON has a wealth of caring people who annually give vital holidays to children from Chernobyl.
Many are still suffering from the long-term effects of the massive nuclear accident there.
The aim is to return the youngsters to their home in Belarus, happier and healthier. A variety of local groups are currently fund-raising. Members plan to bring over the next group of youngsters in summer, 2002.
And Blackrod Friends of Chernobyl's Children is organising one such fund-raising event.
It is a Lancashire Evening, at Rivington Hall Barn on Friday, October 12.
Buzz Hawkins of The Bradshaws and Bernard Wrigley, will be entertaining.
Tickets are £10 each, including a hot pot supper.
Telephone Dorothy Benthom on 01204-696820 to find out more.
The group is always looking for local host families who can have a child staying for four weeks in June/July.
Anyone able to help should ring Dorothy.
