RADIO success could be on the horizon for a group of talented Bolton teenagers.
Six girls from Great Lever have beaten off stiff competition to record a single which looks set to be a hit on the airways.
Michelle Mulligan, aged 17, Alison McGovern, 16, Heather Barnes, 14, Zara McLaren,15, Kirsty Bickerstaffe, 13 and Chantelle Nederman, 15 took part in a four week audition at Bradford Road Youth Club in Bolton. They were picked from 50 hopefuls to record a song called "Sweet Love" at the Ionian recording studios in Halliwell.
It has been penned by youth worker Charlie Barrett, founder of Cherry New music Therapy -- a group set up to give various groups of people the chance to express emotion through modern music.
The service, also run by musician, Terry Dixon is aimed at improving confidence and sense of achievement through creative expression.
Past groups who have benefited include unemployed youths, different ethnic minorities and youths at risk of offending.
The auditions were open to anyone with a good voice. The girls, who have not officially named their band, rehearsed for seven weeks before recording the single and are hoping to be heard on local radio.
Mr Barrett said: "The girls are very talented, enthusiastic and keen.
"They will be looking to do another project soon and we will be looking for funding.
"The song sounds great, we are looking forward to hopefully hearing it on the radio and of course, we would not say no to a record deal."
