BROADCASTER Gordon Burns is to host the launch of Business Link North Manchester at the new Village Hotel in Bury.
There is to be an interactive panel of 250 people drawn from across the business communities of the five towns involved.
It aims to determine "the biggest single issue in business today".
Initial discussions with more than 100 companies prompted responses such as "having a permanent overdraft," "needing more customer sales and/or new business", "fire fighting", "only being able to do so much on my own" or "I know I can make this work if I can just raise the capital."
Organisers are wondering if other issues such as the Internet, Europe and the Single Currency are not as important to small businesses as some commentators suggest.
Gordon Burns, a familiar television presenter for more than 20 years, is currently the news anchorman on the BBC's Northwest Tonight.
Business people who would like to take part in the launch event are asked to contact Business Link North Manchester on 0845 608 3388.
