A MAN died of a malignant tumour after years of working with asbestos, an inquest was told.

David Watson, aged 58, of Blackburn Road, Egerton, was a laboratory technician for Loribel, formerly Turners Asbestos in Wigan.

He came into regular contact with asbestos on the shop floor.

Dr Jonathon Pearson, a consultant pathologist at the Royal Bolton Hospital said Mr Watson had a history of working with asbestos for 16 years before his death.

He told the inquest Mr Watson's lung had become encircled by a tumour which also invaded his chest and diaphragm.

He was admitted to hospital on May 8 and died on May 21.

Aiden Cotter, coroner, recorded a verdict of death by industrial disease.
