A CHARITY swim at Deane Pool was three times as successful -- thanks to three local girls all called Stacey!
The terrific trio undertook the swim for Cancer Research at the Pool, with additional swim-time provided under the special school holidays' free sports' bonanza in the borough.
It was organised by 12-year-old Stacey Lomas from Deane who also wanted to help conquer her fear of water after a relative drowned.
She was joined by Stacey Walsh, aged 13, and Stacey Menzies, aged 11, both also from Deane. And the three raised £501 which they gave to the charity at a poolside presentation.
The bonus for Stacey Lomas was that, instead of the intended six lengths, the plucky lass swam 32 to boost the charity donation -- plus an extra two laps of honour.
"They all did brilliantly," said Deane Leisure Centre manager Shirley Wilkinson. "The free lessons helped their swimming and their confidence and it was all organised really well by them."
