DJIBRIL Diawara wore something borrowed and blue when he raced on for the last 10 minutes at Arsenal.

Wanderers, who sent their kit down to Highbury in advance, had not packed a shirt for the man from Torino who joined his team-mates on the Saturday morning flight to London as a late replacement for the injured Nicky Southall.

So members of the backroom staff - kit man Russell Byrne-Fraser and goakeeping coach Fred Barber - were sent on a mission to find a fan wearing a shirt big enough to fit the giant midfielder.

A mystery fan - waylaid outside the Arsenal underground station - duly obliged and, with the help of staff in the Arsenal club shop who printed Diawara's name and number "23" on the borrowed shirt, he was fully kitted out and ready for action.
