THE manager of a Bolton funeral and monument stonemasons is appealing for help to trace its 150-year history.
Joan McGowan, of Brammall's, Manchester Road, said the firm was set up in the grounds of St Michael's Church and was originally named after its founders, Entwistle and Hollows.
Mrs McGowan has managed to find some information on Mr Entwistle but is still looking for details on Mr Hollows.
She said: "It is still possible that 150 years later there are descendants of Mr Hollows still living in the town so we would like to hear from them.
"I can't find any trace of Mr Hollows after he sold his share of the business in 1888 to his partner's son."
Mrs McGowan is planning to use the information as part of a display to celebrate the company's anniversary. Anyone who can help should call her on 527705.
