Walkden CC B retained the Finestyle Windows Dorothy Clarke Trophy when they beat Smithills Coaching House A 177(1)-165.

Smithills batted first and were dismissed for 106 runs with Donna Else 33 runs and Irene McGuinness 18 runs.

Smithills, however, failed by five minutes to bat their full time of 20 minutes. Walkden then batted and were dismissed for 77 runs but the 100 runs start took them to 177. Kim Morris 18, Collete Blackshaw 18 runs and Janette Donnelly 11 runs being the main scorers.

Smithills batted a second time and were soon dismissed for 59 runs with Dawn Kellet the only player to reach double figures with 14 runs.

Mrs Jackie Walker of Finestyle Windows presented the trophy to the Walkden captain.

Little Lever XI played CRS in the Finestyle Windows final and could only bat for 20 minutes each innings with CRS receiving 200 runs start.

Little Lever batted first and were dismissed for 92 runs thanks to some splendid bowling and fielding by the CRS team. The score book revealed that only three rounders had been scored with Gail Nicholson 25, Julie Bluer 22 and Marie Iles 12 runs top scoring.

CRS were then dismissed for 38 runs but youngsters Lauren Drew 11 runs and Robyn Dootson 10 runs were the main contributors.

Little Lever batted better second time round and used their full 20 minutes when scoring 142 runs. Gail Nicholson, again top scored with 26 runs, Angela Farthing 22, Julie Bluer 16, Marie Iles 14 and Jane Pender 14 runs top scoring.

This left CRS winners by an innings 238-234. This was a good team performance by CRS which consisted of grandma, daughter and granddaughter all playing for CRS.

Mr Stan Walker of Finestyle Windows presented the winning trophy to the CRS captain.
