Wanderers ladies came through the first round of the Lancashire FA.Women's Cup Competition with a 2-1 win over Wigan.
That came after they had fallen behind in the 5th minute but by half time Bolton were starting to get on top.
The second half saw them start to play more fluent football and the pressure on the Wigan goal increased, drawing some fine saves from the Wigan keeper. The breakthrough finally came when the ball broke for Clare Smith to fire into the roof of the net from outside the area.
Wanderers set out for the winner and with 15 minutes remaining Joanne Fairclough found herself in space just outside the area and struck the ball firmly into the bottom corner of the net.
Next Sunday Wanderers are home to South Durham Royals in the second qualifying round of the AXA Women's FA Cup.
Bolton Wanderers Under 14s beat Morecambe Youth 4-2, again coming from behind to win with goals from Charlotte Banner, Natasha Stickleton, 2, Lora Baron.
The Under 12As extended their unbeaten start to the season but were unlucky not to maintain their 100 per cent record. Playing away at Burnley, they took a two goal lead, Faye Knowles scoring both, before Burnley pulled back to draw 2-2. Emily Pickering was Player of the Match for Bolton.
The Under 12Bs came within a whisker of achieving their first win of the season in their match against Preston North End. Natasha Gannon put Wanderers ahead only for Preston to equalise before grabbing an 89th minute winner. Rebecca Grimshaw was Player of the Match for Bolton.
