MEMBERS of Bolton Sinfonietta perform their next concert on Saturday, October 6, at Bolton School Arts Centre.
Nicholas Jones, Head of Strings at Chetham's School of Music, will conduct a varied programme of works, opening with the overture to one of Mozart's most popular operas The Marriage of Figaro.
Karolina Ohman is the soloist in the Haydn Cello Concerto in C. Karolina was born in Sweden, and began playing the cello at the age of five. She has been a pupil at Chetham's School since 1995 and now studies with Nicholas Jones.
The other works on the programme are Romanze by Strauss, and Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony. The symphony earned its name Italien as it was inspired by Mendelssohn's excitement and optimism when he visited Italy for the first time aged 21.
Tickets at £6.00, £4.00 concessions with under 18s free are available at the Albert Halls Ticket and Information Centre, telephone 334400 or pay on the door. The concert starts at 7.30pm. HEAD OF STRINGS: Nicholas Jones
