BOLTON firemen have raised £6,829 in a novel charity event to help the families of their American counterparts killed in the US terrorist attacks.
As reported in the BEN, 10 Greenwatch firefighters from Bolton Central Fire Station raised £5,547 after climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest on two exercise machines at the Market Place shopping centre in Bolton, on Saturday.
Bluewatch firefighters then raised a further £1,282 in a bucket collection at Woolworth's Big W store in Burnden and the B and Q superstore. All the money will go directly to an appeal set up to raise money for those affected by the tragedy.
Bolton Central firefighter Simon Connor said: "We would like to thank everyone who donated to this very worthwhile cause. All the money will go directly to this appeal."
