Radcliffe Boro 1 Marine 1
Radcliffe's highly rated keeper Danny Hurst was sent off on 70 minutes in a highly entertaining Unibond League Cup group stage clash at Stainton Park. The referee adjudged a challenge on an advancing forward was unfair, the red card was produced and outfield Eamonn Kelly's first task in taking over the gloves was to pick John Morgan's penalty kick out of the back of the net. Even down to 10 men Boro kept up the high standard of play seen throughout the game and levelled through Jody Banim on 75 minutes. Midfielder Scott Wilson was named as star man.
Ramsbottom Utd 2 Warrington Town 0
Two goals in two minutes on the hour mark saw the Rams finally break through well- organised Warrington. The visitors set their stall out to make life difficult and it worked until the 60th minute when man of the match David Yorke-Robinson got the opener and on 62 minutes Neil Wallace broke quickly to set up Russell Brierley for the killer second.
Skelmersdale Utd 2 Atherton LR 1
Two second half goals on 57 and 70 minutes clinched three NWCL Division One points for Skelmersdale after LR had taken the early initiative. The home side dominated the opening 45 but good Atherton defending and some excellent saves by Steve Powell kept Skem out. That base enabled LR to take the lead in 34th minute as Mike Rhead set Barry Massay free to round the keeper and slot home. The second half was more open but with Skelmersdale always looking the more dangerous as LR built breaks but rarely threatened.
Squires Gate 4 Daisy Hill 0
Daisy's NWCL Division Two blues are showing little sign of lifting. Alan Aspinall's side did far better than the scoreline would suggest against one of the top sides in the listing but the rub of the green his not with his team at the moment. Midfielder Steve Ellaby won the star performer vote. BEN MIDWEEK STAR TURN
David Yorke-Robinson
Ramsbottom Utd
After missing most of last season through injury the Ramsbottom United striker is back to his very best.
