Wanderers Reserves 2, Liverpool Reserves 1
DAVID Norris and Akinori Nishizawa were on target as Wanderers' reserves repeated the success and the same scoreline of their first team counterparts when they beat Liverpool at the Reebok last night.
With Gareth Farrelly getting half a game after returning to action after being sidelined with a hamstring injury, Wanderers went two goals up just before the interval.
Nishizawa set up Norris, who beat Liverpool keeper Chris Kirkland from 20 yards then Norris became the provider, setting up the Japan international with an angled cross.
Magnificent save
The goals came during Wanderers' best spell in which the impressive Bruno N'Gotty had a header cleared off the line and Ian Marshall forced a magnificent save out of Kirkland.
Steve Banks did well to keep out a Neil Mellor shot as Liverpool started the second half brightly but was beaten by Mellor on 57 minutes when the Anfield man punished a poor defensive clearance.
Both teams were then restricted to long range chances - Kirkland saving a Jeff Smith piledriver and Jamie Redknapp firing inches over for Liverpool,
Wanderers: Banks, Holden, Richardson, N'Gotty, Hendry (O'Hare), Farrelly (Buchanan), Hansen (Taylor), Norris, Marshall, Smith, Nishizawa.
Liverpool: Kirkland, Heggem, Warnock, Navarro, Kippe, Welsh, Miles, Smicer (Foley), Mellor (McIlroy), Redknapp, Partridge.
