A COMMUNITY skatepark for Radcliffe is a step closer to reality after reaching its funding target.

Now young skateboarders, in-line skaters and BMX riders are being asked for suggestions on how to spend £50,000 set aside to buy equipment.

The Radcliffe Association of Dedicated Skaters (RADS), which is the driving force behind moves for the facility on Hutchinson Way, is appealing to those who would use the park for ideas on what they want.

RADS founder, Mr Chris Kelman, said: "We are keen to get as many local interested parties as possible to our next meeting to decide what sort of ramps and other skatepark equipment we buy and install."

It is hoped site work will begin at Hutchinson Way in the coming months with the skatepark due to open in March.

The association meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Adult Education Centre, Abden Street, Radcliffe, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
