DETECTIVES are investigating the "suspicious" death of a 35-year-old man in Bolton last night.
The man, who has not been identified, is believed to have died as a result of a disturbance in Gilnow Road, Heaton.
Today police sealed off a three-floor terraced house in the road. A ground floor window was broken.
Neighbours reported hearing a disturbance in the street shortly after 11pm last night. One said the house, where the man suffered his injuries, is divided into bedsit flats with up to six tenants living in the block.
A neighbour said: "The tenants in that house, and many other residents in this road, only live here for a short time. People keep themselves to themselves and continually move on."
The injured man was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital. He died despite efforts to save his life.
A senior detective this lunchtime said a 42-year-old man has been arrested and was due to be interviewed about the incident later today. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Bolton CID on 0161 856 5645.
