KIND-HEARTED residents across Bolton raised a cuppa for charity -- and raised hundreds of pounds for MacMillan Cancer Relief.
Businesses, schools and voluntary organisations held coffee mornings to support the cause under the charity's World's Biggest Coffee Morning Day. Last year's event raised £3 million to support cancer patients and their families.
Generous Bolton residents joined forces yesterday in a bid to help smash the record as people paid £1 to join the fun events.

Travel clerk Rachel Jones, from Althams Travel in Brackley Street, Farnworth, said local businesses donated cakes and doughnuts which were sold to customers with coffee. She said: "It was a big success and loads of people came to support our day."
Pupils at Affetside County Primary School also held a coffee morning, raising £85.
Teacher Adrian Booth said: "It was very successful and enjoyable. Children helped serve coffee and biscuits to other pupils and parents. It was very well attended."
Horwich Resource Centre in Beaumont Road also did their bit for the cause -- helped by the centre's Friday Club, a social and lunch club for over 60s. They raised £140.
Co-ordinator Sue Stockton said: "We all had coffee and biscuits before people made a contribution. We then had a raffle and everyone had smashing day."
