THE Mayor of Bury is lending his support to a new borough-wide drive to recruit more foster carers.
To find out first hand about their role, Cllr Paul Nesbit invited a group of experienced foster carers to his parlour at the Town Hall.
Cllr Nesbit said: "It is an occasion for me to express publicly my own deep appreciation and that of all members of the council, together with the townspeople of Bury, for the wonderful work which is being undertaken by foster carers.
"They give good, loving homes to our children and I have been privileged to see the results of their special work.
"Foster carers ensure as normal a childhood as possible for children who through various circumstances are unable to live with their own parents."
The Mayor is supporting the efforts of the Bury Family Placement Team to recruit more foster carers for children of all ages.
Anyone interested in getting involved should contact the Family Placement Team on 0161-253-5457.
