SUPERMARKET staff were tickled pink when firefighters came to the rescue of a record-breaking stunt.
They were called in to help fill a giant pink T-shirt at Middlebrook Asda to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The firefighters had been collecting money for victims of the New York disaster outside the store when they were asked to help.
The impressive 15ft garment sports a chest measurement of 354 inches and is being used to promote the Tickled Pink campaign to promote breast cancer awareness month.
Staff and customers at the store have been guessing how many people it would take to fill the enormous shirt.
Paola Hewat, of Winterton Close, Westhoughton, came up trumps with 52 and won two bottles of pink champagne.
Andy Davis, store manager, said: "We will be sending the pictures to the Guinness Book of Records. We don't think anyone has ever done something like this so we think we will get a mention."
The store is hoping to raise more than £1,000 with in-store offers and raffles during the campaign.
The firefighters were expected to bucket thousands of pounds after collecting outside Asda and at the Reebok Stadium before the Bolton Wanderers v Sunderland match. It is part of a nationwide fire brigade campaign to raise cash for British and American victims of the terrorism.
