LEICESTER City midfielder Robbie Savage has suggested his side's opening day mauling at the hands of Wanderers may have played a big part in manager Peter Taylor's dismissal.
Savage said: "After the first game against Bolton (5-0 to Wanderers at Filbert Street) it was an uphill struggle.
"We felt every game could be the manager's last."
And Savage did not hide when he blamed the sacking fairly and squarely on the player's shoulders. "We have let him down. Our performances weren't good enough."
