THE Auld Firm Challenge Cup game between Rangers and Celtic, due to be staged at the Reebok on Sunday has been postponed because of a lack of interest.
The promoters, Match Promotions Limited, aim to reschedule the veterans' challenge later in the season.
Colin Hale, Managing Director of Match Promotions, confirmed today: "The decision to postpone the event was taken in response to the dramatic slowdown of ticket sales over the last seven days, with many Old Firm supporters' plans and travel arrangements being changed at short notice.
"It is our job to maximise every commercial opportunity of the match for the good of the benefiting charity, including satellite and web coverage to global supporters' clubs including those in America and Canada. These commercial negotiations are of no importance at all in the current climate, but do represent excellent revenue streams."
