IN November, 1954, Mrs Alice Stones lit the eight candles, one for each year, of the Bolton Old People's Welfare Council, which held a birthday rally and variety evening in the Victoria Hall.
Also in the picture were the Mayor and Mayoress (Ald and Mrs Flanagan), Mr H. Hamer (chairman), Mrs A Wolfenden (secretary) and Counc Mrs Ryley (treasurer).
