LORD Nelson AC got about the bream and skimmers in an aggregate match held on a much improved Rudyard Lake in Staffordshire.
In the late 1980s the club held many successful matches on the venue but in latter years repairs to the dam and then flood water took its toll in returns.
Normal levels have helped to spur the water on to producing netfulls of silver blades, decent skimmers and the odd big black bream. One angler prepared to sit and wait for the bigger bream was Trevor Hayes, whose patience was rewarded with half a dozen nice bream and the odd silver fish for a winning 17lbs-2ozs-12drs, caught on the tip with worm and caster.
Second was Jock Porter with 12 lbs-15ozs-0drs, this after a win in the last match that has produced a charge up the aggregate table that's come a little too late to challenge the top three.
Third was water maestro Steve Booth who also fished the tip and returned 11lbs-8ozs-8drs. Fourth was Barry Kaye with 9lbs-8ozs-8drs. With two matches to go in the aggregate Pat Power is leading on 35 points, Martin Owen is second on 48 points with Andy McKenzie third on 51 points.
