BAS Image were well represented in the frame of a 42 peg practice match they organised as a curtain raiser to the forthcoming Lancashire Winter League Series.
Held on the Kraft Arm of the Bridgewater Canal at Trafford it was the first match to allow bloodworm and joker following the Canal's rest from the red stuff over the summer.
Although windy the warm temperatures and the novelty of the new bait made for a good match with a lot of small silver fish being taken.
John Battersby of BAS Image made his intentions for the series known by using the worm to perfection taking a netfull of small roach and perch for a winning 10lbs-6ozs-0drs. The league has always been well contested, particularly by Keenets Northwest and BAS Image, but the abandonment of the Northwest Winter League has caused a lot of big named teams to move over to the 'Lancashire'. The two may now have a bigger fight on their hands.
Result - 1st. John Battersby (BAS Image) 10-6-0, 2nd. Ken Power (GTI Gold) 10-4-0, 3rd. Martin Howcroft (BAS Image) 9-10-0, 4th. Dave Procter (BAS Image), Sections, 'A' Stuart Wallwork (BAS Image) 4-7-2, 'B' Trevor Platt (BAS Image) 5-14-0, 'C' Richard O'connor (Keenets NW) 7-7-0, 'D' John Pryors (BAS Image) 6-8-0.
