PLANS for a youth centre in Adlington have received a £50,000 boost from Chorley Council.
Members of the town council are working hard to secure funds for a £350,000 multi-purpose youth and community centre in Highfield Road.
The single-storey facility, which will be built on the site of the former village tip, will cover 330 square feet and is one of the largest scale projects in Adlington for many years.
Cllr Jeanette Lowe, who has been campaigning for a youth centre to be built for many years, has applied to all sorts of funding bodies in a bid to find money and also hopes to receive grants available through landfill taxes.
Thanks to the efforts of the Adlington community, £8,000 has already been raised towards the cost of buying equipment for the finished centre. Chorley Borough Council is helping to boost the coffers after promising a £50,000 donation to the scheme.
