A MAN was savagely attacked by two brothers outside a pub, a murder trial jury was told.
Paul Akister, aged 30, was attacked by two brothers near the Bonnie Lassies pub in Market Street, Hindley.
Manchester Crown Court was told Mr Akister fell to the ground where he was kicked about the head and body.
Prosecutor Anthony Rumbelow QC, said the defenceless victim died within minutes of the attack last November.
He said: "Witnesses describe his head being kicked about like a football. The incident ended with the older attacker stamping on his head not once, but a number of times."
He added: "He had at least 10 areas of injury to the head and the doctor concluded the cause of death was the combined effect of those injuries."
Andrew Pilkington, aged 20, and his brother, Darren, aged 19, both of Bridgewater Street, Hindley, deny murder.
Andrew Pilkington has also pleaded not guilty to wounding Mr Akister, of Worcester Avenue, Hindley with intent.
