BOLTON'S quarter of a million (approximate) population seems to pride itself on its taste and learning, and looks down on other towns and cities (keep hoping for promotion).

How come then that it could not fill even half the seats at the Albert Halls for the delightful production of the ballet Coppelia?

The performers may not have been Pavlova or Nijinsky, but they gave their hearts to a totally enjoyable night, which was greatly received.

It seemed a guide to the standards of interest in education, that there was not a single school party present at an event which would have given many youngsters a new outlook on entertainment.

Sadly, the show must have been produced at considerable financial loss.
