THROUGH your columns, we would like to thank the staff of Royal Bolton Hospital, especially those in A&E and Ward N4.
Two weeks ago Mum was admitted with chest pains into A&E. Thirty minutes later she suffered a severe heart attack and stroke. The team slipped smoothly into action, despite a crowded department.
Within the next forty-five minutes we were met by three doctors, who explained what had happened, what had been done and what the options were that were open to us. We were consulted at every stage.
After three hours Mum was moved to Ward N4. Here she received wonderful care for twelve days, before, in peace, she died.
Please don't knock our NHS, especially the staff. They do a wonderful job. Stars mean nothing, except that they undermine the confidence of staff. Finally, mum was 90 (minus 6 weeks), so don't believe that the staff give up on you just because you're old -- NO WAY! Thank you A&E, N4 and all Royal Bolton -- You Are Great!
