MOTORISTS in Tonge Moor are facing a weekend of misery as work starts tomorrow to repair a burst water main.
United Utilities will be carrying out the work in Thicketford Road will be closed for traffic entering from Crompton Way on Saturday and Sunday.
Highway chiefs at the council are expecting a high level of delay and are urging drivers to find alternative routes.
The scheme is the first of three projects expected to cause major delays across Bolton in the next few weeks.
Ainsworth Lane in Tonge will be resurfaced in a month-long scheme from October 21.
One half of the road will be closed at a time.
Carriageway resurfacing will start in Chorley Old Road between Park Street and Devonshire Road for four weeks from October 22.
Temporary traffic lights will be in use.
Bolton Council say delays are also expected to hit motorists across Little Lever for seven days next week.
Medium levels of disruption are expected as sewer connection work begins on Tuesday in Radcliffe Road near the newly built housing development.
Bolton Central: Gas main Sunday and evening work in Ashburner Street, work continues in Nelson Square and lane closures and reduced speeding limits also continue to hit motorists along parts of St Peter's Way.
Pavement revamp work in Blackhorse Street finishes on Monday.
Kearsley: Temporary traffic lights continue to cause high levels of delay in Market Street, Ringley.
Work to construct a traffic island in Albert Road is also expected to start soon.
Blackrod: Water works in James Street near Crown Lane continues.
Deane: Bolton Council work in Ladybridge Lane near to the junction of Chorley New Road continues.
