SATURDAY

PER Frandsen's penalty miss - or rather Thomas Sorensen's save - proves the turning point as Wanderers are beaten 2-0 by Sunderland at the Reebok - their second successive home Premiership defeat. Kevin Phillips scores his 100th League goal for Peter Reid's Black Cats and Jody Craddock scores his first - both from set-pieces - much to Sam Allardyce's dismay. Reid admits: "The better side lost!" Rod Wallace gets his first start and fellow new boy Jermaine Johnson impresses on his home debut.

SUNDAY

Ricardo Gardner and Jermaine Johnson fly out to team up with Jamaica for their World Cup qualifier in the United States. Frandsen pulls out of Denmark's vital qualifier against Iceland after suffering an overnight reaction to an ankle injury.

MONDAY

AS Wanderers take a break in the Lakes for team-building exercises - paint-balling, raft-building and "toilet racing" - Allardyce admits the realities of the Premiership are starting to hit home. But he accentuates the positives, expressing his satisfaction with the second half performance against Sunderland.

TUESDAY

ROD Wallace, surprised to have been so involved since signing for Wanderers, says he is hoping to secure a long-term contract. The Auld Firm Challenge between Rangers and Celtic, scheduled for the Reebok, is postponed by the promoters because of a lack of interest.

WEDNESDAY

WANDERERS decide not to appeal against the Home Office refusal to grant Macedonian international midfielder Artim Sakiri a work permit. Sam Allardyce says he will no longer be pursuing the deal.

THURSDAY

WANDERERS' players put shirts and tickets up for auction to raise funds for the New York firefighters' appeal ... the FA confirm that Ricardo Gardner will serve a one-match ban for his sending off at Arsenal.

FRIDAY

DEAN Holdsworth says he is confident the players are united in support of the PFA's strike threat over TV cash but suggests the public could be divided. Allardyce fears Per Frandsen's ankle injury could keep him out for another two weeks.
