THE anniversary of the execution of the Earl of Derby in Bolton after the English Civil War will be re-enacted next weekend.
The Earl was beheaded in Churchgate for his part in the Bolton Massacre -- one of the incidents in the conflict where up to 1,700 Boltonians were slaughtered by Royalist forces.
Hall i'th' Wood Museum will commemorate the 1651 execution on Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14.
The story will also cover the Earl's trial and the battle at Bolton that preceded the massacre.
To find out more ring the museum, in Green Way, off Crompton Way, on 01204 332209.
