BBC Radio One star Sara Cox was due to have a huge wedding celebration in Ireland today following her marriage to DJ Jon Carter.

The 26-year-old Breakfast Show presenter has headed for Macreddin in County Wicklow with her family and friends.

And judging from the amount of champagne the couple have ordered, the party looks set to go with a bang.

Sara wed her 31-year-old husband at Finsbury register office in London on Thursday, a year after they met at Radio One's Love Parade event in Leeds.

But the couple have also booked a blessing at Authrim Church, next door to the 40-bedroom luxurious Brooklodge Hotel in Ireland.

Hotel manager Eoin Doyle has allowed the BEN access to Sara's hotel suite, a rather sparse room with an impressive looking bed.

He said the couple would be able to go for long riverside walks in acres of countryside and they could dine at the "award-winning" Strawberry Tree restaurant.

But Sara, famous for enjoying a good party, is more likely to be interested in letting her hair down.

And with no vacancies at the hotel this weekend, it appears there will be plenty of people on hand to join them.

Sara tied the knot in a low-key civil ceremony earlier in the week.

The couple wore casual gear but plan to have a more formal occasion in Macreddin.

Legal

A spokeswoman said: "She did the legal side of the ceremony yesterday but this weekend they will hold the whole wedding celebration. For legal reasons they had to get married before they went."

To marry in Ireland, the couple would have had to have met residency rules.

Her marriage echoes best friend Zoe Ball's bash when she threw everyone off the trail for her marriage to Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.

Zoe went for a register office marriage before heading to Babington House in Somerset where she had been expected to complete the whole ceremony.

Sara, an ex-model who attended Smithills and Canon Slade Schools, is believed to have asked Cook to spin the discs at her reception.

Sara had previously been engaged to ex-Prodigy star Leeroy Thornhill but they called it off last year, just weeks after she had taken over the Breakfast Show from Ball.
